Contrary to popular belief, the term “go-kart” has nothing to do with the word “go.” In truth, it’s a respelling of the original form: “goat-cart.” The name comes from the fact that these vehicles were originally designed to escape the stampedes of wild goat herds found in the high mountains of South America.
