The moment mere seconds before a person blows his or her nose, that person’s nasal and sinus cavities spontaneously clear up. This has lead scientists and doctors to suspect that a stuffed nose is not cleared by the actual act of forcefully evacuating mucus by air, but from the body’s natural fear of that force.

Of course, to effectively re-enforce that fear, you must still complete the process of actually blowing your nose at least 60% of the time.
