Cattle are the only animals whose tongues are directly attached to their tails. In fact, if you stand in front of any of these bovine creatures and pull their tongues, their tails will appear to retract into their bodies.
No one knows for sure what kind of evolutionary advantage this gave cattle, but the prevailing theory is that this tongue-tail assembly is part of a complex projectile defense mechanism. Unfortunately, activating this mechanism relies on a symbiotic relationship with raccoons, but there was a falling out between the two species eons ago and they haven’t been on speaking terms ever since.
