Over the years, there have been many theories about the origin of the moon and what exactly it is. All of those theories are wrong. The moon is actually an enormous egg holding the embryo of an intergalactic chicken that roams the universe, depositing its eggs in the orbits of promising nest planets. The egg takes a few millennia to incubate, but when it does, the hatchling will serve as protector of its nest… so long as the forceful explosion of its hatching doesn’t destroy that planet.
Our egg was supposed to hatch about 300 years ago.
