It’s true that a pot of water won’t boil if you watch it. Fortunately, there’s a trick to get around this problem. Simply put, you need to make the pot think you’re not watching it.
Ironically, the way you pull this off is by intensely staring at the pot. However, it’s important that you use full intensity in your stare. Nothing else can divert your focus. You shouldn’t even move. If you can manage it, you get the best results by holding your breath until the water begins to boil. By directing every bit of your attention on the pot, it gets confused into thinking you’re not even there and begins to speed up the boiling process.
With enough practice (and genetic resistance to oxygen deprivation), you can even get a pot of water to boil without the introduction of fire at all.
